Engines On Site at Substation 12
Casey Industrial is rapidly moving into the next phase of construction at one of our project sites for the City of Tallahassee.
Last week, the first of two Wärtsilä natural gas-fired reciprocating engines was delivered to the Substation 12 site. These massive engines weigh over 310,000 pounds each and required over eight hours to transfer from the rail yard, where they arrived in Tallahassee, and unload at the project site, less than 10 miles away. To see a video of this process, check out the owner’s YouTube video: https://youtu.be/Ogfy5g-2XDY.
Substation 12 will provide increased reliability to the current system and back-up power in the event of an outage. Casey expects commercial operation to begin this summer.
